Last Thursday CNBC had the premier showing of J. Crew and the Man that Dressed America, a-hem Mickey Drexler. Mickey touched upon their catalogs and how they travel to beautiful and distinct places to take shots that will inspire emotion and drive sales. The June style guide came out last week and was shot on the Indonesian Island of Bali. This hit close to home as we have taken inspiration and worked closely with local artisans to hand-craft one of our finer lines for Sunstone 925 called Bali Bling. Last night I attended the 40th Anniversary FiFi Awards held at the Alice Tulley Hall at Lincoln Center. Jane Lynch was the host, while other celebrities including Nicole Richie, Michelle Monaghan, Mariska Hargitay and Martha Stewart mingled with with crowd to celebrate a night for the fragrance industry! It was a blast, I can not wait until next year and of course, congratulations to all the winners!!
Each May the accessory industry comes together for the Fashion Accessories Benefit Ball. This year we turned the Roman & Sunstone showroom into a styling oasis. We brought in experts in hair and make-up to pamper our buyers. I must say everyone looked Fabb-ulous for the event.

Yesterday market week began and since most of our buyers are not from the area I decided to compile a list of some of my favorite places to eat during the week. This will be the first edition to A Buyers Guide to Surviving Market or in this case a hungry stomach. Bon appetite!

Piccolo Café - Madison between 37th and 38th: This delicious Italian café has everything made to order and served in the perfect portions. I order the #11 panini or the chicken salad, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu because it’s all made with love.
Witchcraft - Herald & Greeley Square - Broadway @ 35th street &
Broadway @ 32nd street : Founded by Tom Colicchio, head judge of Bravo’s Top Chef, this little hut-like location serves up unique chef designed sandwiches that will tantalize your taste buds. I order the heritage smoked ham or chicken salad.
Mangia Organics - 39th between 5th and 6th: A gourmet eatery complete with sandwiches and salads as well as a delectable hot & cold bar with both Mediterranean and Italian influences. I order the smoked turkey on black bread with cucumbers, watercress, and herb mayo at least once a week.
The Kati Roll Company - 39th between 5th and 6th: If you’re in the mood for some spicier Indian flare head to The Kati Roll Company. It is simple, delicious, and inexpensive. Can’t beat that! I order the chicken tikka and mixed-veggie rolls. Yummm.
Worth the Walk 4-6 blocks (5 – 10 mins)
Devon and Blakely - 5th Ave between 40th and 41st: A great selection of specialty wraps, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I order the parmesan chicken salad it is sooooo good.
Le Pain Quotidien - 40th between 5th and 6th: A warm and cozy French bakehouse. They are known for their tartines. I order the roasted turkey with avocado. Superb.
Just Salad - 37th between Broadway and 7th: The description is all in the name. Just salad! With a variety of ingredients to choose from you can make your own or get inspired by their chef designed menu. You also have the option of getting your greens wrapped up. I have tried almost everyone with the suggested dressing and every time I realize I like something new!
99 Cent Fresh pizza - 5th between 30th and 31st : 1 slice just 99 cents. A deal your wallet and stomach will both enjoy! When I get the crave I just grab a slice.
